The
Brain
Seizures
and Epilepsy....the statistics in this are a little older, but the
other information holds the same. In 2007 we now have about 3 million
Americans with Epilepsy with 200,000 being new to the diagnosis each
year. About half of these are children under the age of 18. The next
highest in diagnosis are those over the age of 60. This challenging
population, the older population, because they often have other health
conditions and medicating them can be a challenge.
I am one of
those who was diagnosed later in life at the age of 43. Most are diagnosed
before the age of 20.
Anyone can have a seizure at anytime!
One in 10 WILL have one seizure sometime in there life, but it does
not mean that they will have epilepsy.
epilepsy is having repeated
seizures.

This is a traumatic brain injury site, but is very helpful in understanding
brain function and disfunction when it comes to seizures as well.
I have found it very helpful at times!
